Robert Jackson was born about 1620 in England. He was an early settler at Hempstead, Long Island before 1657. Some dispute this and say he came with the Winthrop Fleet in 1630. He was elected a town magistrate of Hempstead in 1662. In 1671 he was elected Constable of Hempstead. The names of his three wives are uncertain, although the last first name was Agnes.
 
His son Colonel John Jackson was married Elizabeth Seaman. In the next generation their daughter Martha Jackson married Peter Titus
