-William Washburn was baptized on 9 November 1601 at Bengeworth, Worcestershire, England, the son of John Washburne and Martha Timbrell. He married Jane Nichols, daughter of Francis Nichols and Frances Wimarke in about 1625 in Bengeworth. They emigrated to Hempstead, Long Island on or before 1645 he is recorded in a law suit which was settled in April 1646. He was chosen, along with John Seaman and others as a Deputy from Hempstead to appeal to the British about the Dutch government frim New Amsterdam assuming jurisdiction over Long Island. He carried a remonstrance to the Dutch Governor, Peter Stuyvesant in New Amsterdam in 1653 from the colonists.
being recorded at Stratford, Connecticut where he was one of 35 men who accepted the invitation of the first 17 settlers to join them. He and his son John purchased land at Oyster Bay in 1667. He died in 1659. He is also recorded in 1647 in Stratford, Connecticut.
Their daughter Martha married Edmund Titus. In the next generation their son Peter Titus married Martha Jackson
