-Lambert Van Valkenburg was born 16 April 1614 at Valkenburg, Limburg, Netherlands. He married Annetie Jacobs in 1642. In 1643 they emigrated to New Netherlands. Their children were Christened in New Amsterdam. They settled at Beverwyck (Albany), then a fur trading community. In the 1650s Lambert was a sergeant at the fort and was appointed to the Beverwyck watch. Lambert was a member of the Albany Dutch Reform Church and subscribed for the minister’s salary in 1683.
