-Cornelis Segers Van Voorhout was born in 1598 at Voorhout, Teylingen, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. He married Brechje Jacobse and they emigrated to Albany, New York in 1642 aboard the ship “Het Wapen Van Rensselaerwyck”. In August 1643 he signed a contract with Governor Van Rensselaer. His name is recorded as “Cornelise Segertse Van Egmont. He settled in Rensselaerwyck as a farmer. His first farm was one of two farms on Castle Island, near Albany. In 1646 he took over the other farm on the Island for 3 remaining years on the lease.  His farm was named Welysburgh. 
 
Their daughter Lysbeth Segerse married Gysbert Cornelis Van Den Berg.
